Tadcaster York Sport Swim Squad benefits from two home pools and two partner clubs.

These partnerships support our squad to access excellent training facilities and extend the reach of our swim programme to even more swimmers.

The Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool first opened in December 1994 and is one of the region's most popular swimming pool and fitness venues. The Pool supported the set-up of our swim squad and continues to be our main partner and training pool, also employing our coaching team. We are very grateful for all the ongoing support and lane time we receive from Tadcaster Community Pool.

The Trust relies on the help and support of many volunteers who are managed by a small core of paid staff. Our volunteers are given full training free of charge. This includes National Pool Lifeguard, First Aid, Reception training and Maintenance training. Many of our volunteers are students, people wanting to return to the working environment, parents or retired people.

York Sport Village opened its doors in 2012 as a state of the art new sports facility for the University of York. With an eight lane 25m competition standard swimming pool, partnership with York Sport and lane time at the new York Sport Village pool was a perfect solution for a growing swim squad.

Some of the swimmers who started lessons when York Sport first opened are now swimming in the senior squads at TYSSS! We are grateful for all the ongoing support the York Sport team provide not least as the venue for our annual licensed swim meet the Back-to-School Blast.

Tadcaster Stingrays is a disability swim squad for those aged 11-25, led by ex-TYSSS alumni Jemima Browning.

Stingrays offer weekly training sessions at Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool on a Wednesday at 1830-1930 for those with physical and/or learning disabilities.

As a club, Stingrays prides themselves in providing a safe place that focuses on the abilities our swimmers have.

Strong links with TYSSS mean some Stingrays swimmers are also members of TYSSS - allowing swimmers to partake in additional training sessions and to provide opportunities to compete.

Stingrays acknowledge that the swimming skills are important but place as much emphasis on building friendships, confidence and self-esteem of their swimmers. Stingrays make the reasonable adjustments necessary to cater for an individual’s needs and to allow each and every member to fulfil and maximise their potential. With many social events on offer to bring together not only the swimmers but also their families and supporters. Stingrays increase everyone’s sense of belonging and offer a safe community where all are accepted and supported.

Tadcaster York Sport Swim Squad’s Head Coach, Danny Martland, is also the Head Coach of the University of York Swimming and Water Polo Club (UYSWC).

UYSWC is made up of 30 swimmers (15 men and 15 women) from a range of swimming backgrounds, from County to National level experience.

Some of the more experienced UYSWC swimmers also join TYSSS as members and train with our Regional Squads.
